Standard rectangular planters: 400x400x400mm, 600x400x500mm, 800x400x600mm, 1000x500x500mm. Standard square planters: 400x400x400mm, 500x500x600mm. Lengths up to 2000mm are standard; for longer runs, we join multiple units or supply as kit-form for on-site assembly. Custom sizes available to any dimension.
Yes. All planters include a drainage system: pre-drilled drainage holes (15-20mm diameter) in the base, a removable drainage plug, and an optional integrated reservoir system for reduced watering frequency. We can also supply with hidden castor wheels for mobile planters.
Options: (1) No liner — direct soil contact with treated timber (standard); (2) Geotextile liner — allows drainage while preventing soil loss (recommended for rooftop use); (3) Plastic liner — full moisture barrier (for indoor use or where water damage is a concern); (4) Zinc-aluminum alloy liner — long-life liner for harsh environments.
Yes. We can incorporate custom colors, carved patterns, metal decorations, and corporate branding into the planter design. For municipal projects, we can match city design standards and incorporate elements like civic logos or themed decorations.
Choose the planter size based on the plants' root zone requirements. General rule: the planter depth should be at least 1.5x the mature root ball depth. For trees: minimum depth 600mm, volume 40-60L per meter of tree height. For shrubs: depth 400-500mm. For annual flowers: depth 250-350mm.
Position drainage holes in the base — typically 3-5 holes of 15-20mm diameter for standard sizes. For rooftop installations, add a drainage membrane and gravel layer to prevent root rot. Install the planter with a slight backward tilt (2-3 degrees) to promote water runoff.
Add a base layer of gravel or expanded clay (50-100mm) for drainage and weight stability. Place geotextile fabric over the gravel to separate from the soil mix. Fill with appropriate planting medium (for trees: 70% garden soil + 30% organic compost; for flowers: lighter mix with perlite for drainage). Leave 30-50mm below the rim for watering.
Plant at the correct depth (same as nursery pot level). Water thoroughly after planting and apply a layer of mulch (straw or bark chips) to retain moisture. Install support stakes for trees at time of planting. Set up irrigation lines if using drip irrigation.
Check drainage holes seasonally and clear any blockages. Re-tighten any loose bolts or hardware annually. Apply wood preservative to any exposed end grains every 2-3 years. In freezing climates, ensure the base has good drainage to prevent water accumulation and freeze-thaw damage.
