FAQ

What is the difference between CCA and ACQ anti-corrosion treatment?

CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) uses chromium, copper, and arsenic compounds — excellent for ground contact and marine environments, with a 40+ year service life. ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quaternary) uses copper and a quaternary ammonium compound — more environmentally friendly, suitable for above-ground and garden applications with a 20-30 year service life. Both meet international standards (AWPA, EN 351).

What sizes are available for decking boards?

Standard sizes: 90x20mm, 90x25mm, 120x25mm, 140x28mm. Standard lengths: 2m, 3m, 4m, 6m. Custom sizes available: up to 150mm width, 12m length. We also offer grooved boards (for hidden clip systems) and smooth boards (for traditional face nailing).

Can anti-corrosion wood be used near water or in marine environments?

Yes. CCA-treated wood is rated for marine use (saltwater splash zones, piers, docks). ACQ-treated wood is suitable for freshwater environments and garden settings near water. For marine piers, we recommend additional marine-grade sealant on all end grains and annual maintenance with timber oil.

Do you provide installation hardware?

Yes. We supply all installation accessories: stainless steel screws (A4 grade for marine use, A2 for garden), hidden clip systems (for grooved boards), joist hangers, post anchors, and rubber pads. We provide a full bill of materials with your order based on your deck dimensions and design.

What maintenance is required for outdoor anti-corrosion wood?

Annual maintenance includes: clean the surface with a soft brush and mild detergent, check for any splitting or cracking and seal with wood filler if needed, apply a UV-protective wood oil or stain every 1-2 years to maintain color and surface integrity. With proper maintenance, CCA decks last 40+ years.

Do you ship internationally with seaworthy packaging?

Yes. Export packaging uses sea-worthy crating with moisture barrier and desiccant packs. Timber is kiln-dried to below 19% moisture content before shipping to prevent mold in transit. Shipping quotes available as CIF, FOB, or DDP to your port.

Installation & Operation Guide

1

Planning & Material Calculation

Calculate deck area and determine joist spacing (typically 400-600mm on-center depending on board thickness). Add 10% for cutting waste. Determine beam and post requirements based on deck height and load. Prepare a layout drawing with all dimensions.

2

Foundation & Support Structure

Install concrete footings or adjustable post anchors at specified intervals. Install support posts and ensure they are level and plumb. Install beams (usually 90x190mm or 140x190mm treated timber) on top of posts. Check all levels before proceeding.

3

Joist Installation

Install joists at right angles to the beams at specified spacing. Use joist hangers for secure connections. Install a slight slope (1:100) away from buildings for water drainage. Apply bitumen tape or rubber joist tape on top of all joists to prevent moisture buildup between joist and board.

4

Deck Board Installation

Start from the outer edge, leaving a 5-8mm expansion gap between boards. For hidden clip systems: install clips into the groove of each board, then screw clip to joist. For face fixing: pre-drill and screw with stainless steel screws, two screws per board per joist. Stagger board joints across at least 3 joists.

5

Edge Finishing

Install fascia boards on the exposed sides of the deck frame. Apply end-grain sealer to all cut board ends. Sand any sharp edges or splinters. Apply first coat of UV-protective wood oil or stain.

6

Inspection & Handover

Verify all screws are fully driven below the surface. Check the entire deck surface for protrusions or loose boards. Clean the deck with a soft brush. Apply maintenance guide and warranty documentation. For large projects, conduct a load test before handover.
